This reupholstered oak dining chair is was one of Hans J. Wegners earliest designs.

The model was first produced by Plan Møbler in 1940/1941 for the new iconic city hall in Aarhus that was finished in 1941 with Arne Jacobsen as architect and a young Hans J. Wegner as assistant in making a complete new city hall including lamps, furniture, ash trays and all other inventory . The design of furniture for the city hall was H.J. Wegner’s first major design task making this chair among the very first chairs designed by Wegner. The inscription under the seat captures the increase of the legs and is dated November 30th, 1957.

The new upholstered chair has been overlooked and refinished by our cabinetmaker and is in very good condition.
