1950´s set of two fully restored Hans Wegner "Sawbuck" chairs in ebonized oak.
The "Sawbuck chair" was designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1952 named after and inspired by the sawbucks you could find in Wegner´s and other cabinetmakers workshops at the time and were produced by Carl Hansen & Søn.
This set of chairs have been fully restored by our cabinetmaker, frames sanded and ebonized and seats replaced with new Sawbuck seats in natural soft leather from Carl Hansen & Søn.
The ebonizing technique is a process where the color is created within the wood itself by use of only natural ingredients. The process is work intensive but create a deep black colored waxed surface with the wood patterns and structures fully intact resulting in a unique surface compared to the traditional layer of black varnish on top of the wood.
