1960´s Danish handblown blue glass ashtray - bowl by Per Lütken for Holmegaard.
 
The circular handblown ashtray feature an extremly rich mixture of almost all varietys of blue collors from the very, very bright almost transparent blue to the deep dark blue and all varietys inbetween - all depending of the background and the amount / angle of light it´s exposed to, why you hardly ever see it look the same. Use it as an ashtray, a bowl or "just" as a piece of decorative art in a place where the daylight can preform it's magics in the glass during the day or by artificial light at night! 
 
The ashtray is in very good condition with hardly any signs of age and use and is engraved with Holmegaards name, Holmegaards designnumber and Per Lützens mark at the bottom.
 
Acoording to the original owner the ashtray was bought at a storage sale on the Holmegaard Glass workshop in the mid 1980´s. They told him that it was made in a test production back in the 1960´s to test a new mixture of glass and color to acheive the very exquisite play of colors in the glass. The test however showed that too many pieces did not succeed and as a result of that the mixture never went into production and the too few sucessfull pieces from the test was put in storage... why this piece is extremly rare.
